“How Fast Can I Get Caught up on Credits With iSucceed?”

It’s a common question we hear, and it makes sense. When you’ve fallen behind in courses, you’re worried about graduating high school on time, or even graduating at all.

If you fail a class, the traditional route would be to take it over summer. Or, you could take that class next year and either fall behind or have a crazy workload. That’s why oftentimes, students end up in credit recovery courses, where you sit at a computer after school and try to retake a class online. And although you previously failed, somehow, you’re expected to pass a test on your own with no help.

When your current options are being stuck in a class all summer, falling behind or losing your mind out of boredom in “credit recovery,” the future might look a little dim.

That’s what iSucceed is here for.

We know students often don’t just fail one course. We also know that when students are performing poorly academically, they need greater focus and better support from teachers.

“How Fast Can I Get Caught Up on Credits With iSucceed?”

A majority of iSucceed students come to us already behind in credits. So it’s no wonder so many want to know how quickly they can recover credits. The answer is not quick or simple. But we’ll explain it below.

About iSucceed’s Quarter Schedule

Students workingCatching up on credits with iSucceed is not better because it’s online (although that helps!), it’s actually due to the quarter structure. Instead of the traditional 6–8 classes each semester, full-time iSucceed students take three courses every nine weeks, also known as a quarter. At the end of the quarter, iSucceed students complete three semester courses. In one traditional semester’s time length, iSucceed students take the same classes as traditional students, it’s just split up differently.

If students are behind on credits, they could (with counselor approval) take an additional class each block. That means four courses every quarter.

The Maximum Amount of Credits You Could Recover, Through the Story of Bob

For this story, we’ll go with the absolute best-case scenario.

Let’s say a student’s name is Bob. Bob likes long walks on the beach and movies. He is going to be a junior in the fall. But the past two years, he did not do well in his old school. At all. As a result, Bob has a lot of classes to make up.

Bob comes to iSucceed and enrolls in four courses every quarter for a full school year (August–May). By the end of the year, Bob will have taken an extra four courses.

In a full school year, Bob will complete 4 extra credits to his regular schoolwork.

Best case scenario, and probably not the best solution for everyone. But there’s the answer!

What many students don’t know is that you have until you are 21 to earn your high school diploma. Catching up on credits is important, we won’t deny that. But if you’ve fallen behind, you don’t need to overextend yourself to graduate as fast as possible. You can take your time to truly focus, earn a higher GPA and graduate by 21.

I am interested in enrolling my son, grade 11, and have some questions. First, can he duel enroll in public school? He has been taking mechanics or weight lifting in conjunction with online school. Second, he has an IEP. What kind of program do you offer for special Ed?
